Who will be working with your child?

At Forest View we have a large and experienced team of staff who work with the children and suport their Learning.

All enquiries must be directed through the office.

Ian Barkley is the Headteacher. He joined the school in Sept 2000, coming from Essex, where he was previously Head at Bradfield Primary School.

Although the role of Headteacher is a very busy one, he is always keen to make himself available to talk to parents and carers about concerns or suggestions.

School Staff

There is a large team of staff at Forest View. Each year group has two parallel classes, and the teachers plan together, so the work covered in each class is similar. We also have a large team of support staff, inlcuding Learning Support Workers, Pastoral workers and Administration staff.

Governors

The Governors at Forest View take an active role in supporting the school development. There are many ways in which Governors can use their expertise from their knowledge of Education, Finance, running a buisness, or maybe purely being an interested parent.

Governors meetings are run in a friendly, non threatening business-like manner. We don't use loads of jargon.
Governors are involved in the running of the school in a huge range of ways, including the following..:-

Staff appointments
Setting targets for the Headteacher
Setting the school Budget
Presenting the parent's views to school management
'Critical Friend' of the staff

Governors are 'selected' in a variety of ways, some are nominated by the Local Authority, some are co-opted by the Governing Body, and some are elected by secret Ballot. Parents are represented by Parent Governors. The usual term of office is for four years.

Friends of Forest View
There is a keen band of volunteers who support the school by helping to raise funds for vital projects. New ideas and people are always welcome. Please contact the school office if you are interested.
